Hurricane Opal

On October 6, 1995, Hurricane Opal came ashore in Pensacola.   Panama City Beach was hit by a 20 foot storm surge.

Moondrifter had major damage to condos and common areas on the first floor.
The waves also washed all the sand from around the pool, leaving the pool deck in pieces resembling pavement that has been broken by an earthquake.  The pool itself remained intact.  The surge went straight through the security office, washing out the patio doors on both the ocean side and the parking lot side of the security office.   Fencing was completely destroyed and the tennis court fence was flattened.   A hot tub which had been on the 101 patio was left beside the Top of the Gulf pool.
